— wedding & function swing band tight migration window, a site built from scratch, and position-one rankings for core booking queries within six months. A small lifestyle client, a lean budget, and a strong return on every pound spent.
This East Anglian wedding and function swing band came to me in late 2024 with a platform problem and a deadline. Their SquareSpace site was outdated, performing poorly in search, and approaching a renewal they didn't want to pay. The brief was to migrate to WordPress within the renewal window, build a site capable of supporting ongoing SEO, and do so with minimal burden on the client.
The build was designed around a logical booking journey — clear navigation between the key decision points a couple or event organiser needs: the sound, the musicians, the pricing, the enquiry. Individual musician profile pages were built with proper structured content, giving the site additional ranking surfaces beyond the homepage. Local SEO foundations were established from day one: East Anglia and Suffolk regional targeting, Google Business Profile setup, and full GA4 and GTM implementation.
The site launched in early 2025. Position data began moving meaningfully within weeks. By November, average position had improved by 22 places — and the site was holding top-three rankings across near-me, regional wedding band, and function band booking queries.
In January 2026, entity additions and structured pricing data were applied, further consolidating positions. Backlink development and ongoing meta optimisation are part of the active retained scope — this is a live engagement, with SEO maintained on a rolling basis in line with the client's budget and the seasonal nature of the wedding market.
Total client spend from February 2024 to July 2026: £3,700 — covering the full build, migration, hosting setup, GMB, GA4, GTM, schema and entity work, backlink development, and ongoing SEO content management. For a small lifestyle client with a lean budget, the position gains and impression volumes achieved represent strong return across the engagement.
